September 15, 2025 - Latest update to Japan Post's Shipping methods: Shipping to the U.S. for orders under $150 Good news for figure collectors: orders to the United States can still be shipped if the parcel value is under $150 and marked as a gift. Under the current rules, these shipments are not subject to U.S. import taxes, meaning your Japanese figures and collectibles can continue to arrive without extra fees. This adjustment allows Japan Figure customers to continue shopping for authentic Japanese figures and collectibles with confidence while we wait for clearer U.S. customs guidelines. What Japan Post officially announced about the suspension? Effective date: August 27, 2025. Suspended items: small packets, parcels, EMS (goods) containing taxable items or gifts worth over $150. Still accepted: letters, postcards, printed matter, EMS (documents), and personal gifts valued under $150. Reason: unclear guidelines from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding customs deposit payments, data transmission, and tariff collection methods. 4. How does this affect shoppers at Japan Figure? Shipping options like EMS, Registered Small Packet AIR, Epacket Light, and Seamail are suspended. If you previously chose these services, your orders cannot be shipped with Japan Post until further notice. Customs duties will now apply. For example, an $200 figure order shipped from Japan could face tariffs of 15% or more depending on U.S. trade rates, meaning an extra $30 in import costs. Pre-orders and pending shipments may require adjustments. If your figure order was scheduled to ship after August 27 via Japan Post, our team will contact you to update your shipping method. 5. How are we handling the Japan Post suspension for figure collectors? Automatic support for affected orders : If your chosen method was EMS, Registered Small Packet AIR, Epacket Light, or Seamail, we will reach out and help you switch to another service. Safer packaging & customs preparation : All figure orders will be packed with extra protection and the proper documentation to meet U.S. customs requirements.
